Thoughts, musings & news from the Blumin team.

Which CMS? Craft, WordPress – one size does not fit all.

Our philosophy at Blumin, is to put the client first. We don't force clients down an approach which suits us, but rather, what suits the project. When we look at CMS solutions for websites, we pair the most suitable CMS for its purpose. Because our development team are Full Stack developers, we're not constrained by limited skills.

Here are some of the popular Content Management Systems we've worked on and developed:

Laravel

Okay, Laravel isn’t a CMS, it’s a development framework, however, when we were approached to build a website for tour operator, Prestbury Wordwide Resorts, we knew it was going to have to be a custom build from the start. In fact, another agency had already tried and failed (spectacularly) to build it in WordPress, putting them a year behind their initial launch. Our build allowed them to manage 10s of 1000s of products, including hotels, tours, villas and cruises – including API integration with various itineraries and prices, and a full blogging platform and page creation and management.

CraftCMS

Our client had previously not enjoyed using WordPress, and were open to ideas on a more suitable CMS, which could easily integrate into their booking platform, SuperControl.Craft makes no presumptions on your content, and allows you to build a bespoke CMS, with lean code and live previewing as standard. Our client can also update multiple websites from the one dashboard.

Webflow

We've recently moved to integrate Webflow into our workflow for prototyping and we used it to develop our own website. We're also using the built in CMS to add editing functionality.
A lean and powerful tool.

WordPress

Hayle Town Council had a specific requirement to have the new website built in WordPress and the build involved a booking system for some of their building resources. The main build was bespoke, to ensure they got exactly what they wanted – not an off-the-shelf template.

We do however, have a favourite – CraftCMS

A modern, clean, fast and secure CMS – CraftCMS allows us to build a bespoke CMS to fit exactly to your requirements, and allows you to not only edit all the content on your website, but create your own pages and add content blocks to build up the kind of page you want. Build your own blog pages, product pages or landing pages for campaigns and PPC campaigns.

Create a new blog post, page or landing page from the CMS, then add in content blocks. We can design whatever you need, including 2/3 columns layouts, full width, and feature blocks.
